Aldi's new 1.3 million sq ft distribution centre in Bardon, Leicestershire is one of the first major UK projects to use the . The building is Aldi’s largest distribution project to date, marking a step change in their approach to construction and acting as the next rung on their commitment to net zero by 2035. It represents Aldi’s lowest embodied and operational carbon per m2 distribution centre to date.
The scale of the building and the nature of the operation meant that carbon-intensive materials, such as steel and concrete, had to be used. But where possible low embodied carbon materials, including the Tate RMG600+ raised access floor, were specified.
Manufactured in the UK and crafted from low-carbon steel, the is Tate’s lowest embodied carbon floor panel and contains a minimum 86% recycled content.
It is fully tested to the PSA: 2021 standard and comes with a Tate backed full system 25 year warranty, offering a level of confidence and high performance that a building like this requires.
“We are proud to have worked in collaboration with Tate as part of this landmark project. Not only is Tate’s RMG600+ reducing the environmental impact of construction but it is easy and efficient to install on site.”
