A key element in achieving this is Tate's Attiro magnetic flooring system, installed throughout the building to deliver both aesthetic appeal and practical functionality.
The LAYER building showcases contemporary architecture, designed to accommodate flexible workspaces and dynamic environments. To meet the needs of a constantly evolving workspace, the design team selected Tate's Attiro system – a real wood, magnetically-backed flooring solution that is as beautiful as it is functional. With its quick and easy access to the underfloor void, Attiro allows for effortless reconfiguration of the space, making it ideal for modern office workspaces.
Attiro's unique design features engineered oak staves that magnetically attach to Tate's encapsulated steel raised access floor panels. This allows the floor to be lifted easily with a specialised device, providing fast access to underfloor services such as electrical wiring and HVAC systems. The magnetic system ensures that panels can be lifted and replaced without disruption, making maintenance and reconfiguration seamless.
The flooring is available in a variety of shades and finishes, including brushed, sawmill, and rustic hand-scraped options, allowing for customisation to suit the building’s design. Attiro’s durability is ensured through a hard wax oil finish, which enhances the natural beauty of the European oak veneer while offering protection against wear.
Attiro was installed in LAYER during the final fit-out phase, streamlining the construction process and reducing lead times. Its versatility makes it perfect for the dynamic environment of the LAYER building, where office layouts and furniture arrangements may need frequent changes. The ability to access the underfloor void with minimal effort makes it easy to reconfigure the workspace as needed, contributing to an uncluttered and flexible working environment.
