Sustainability is our business

A few years ago, we made the decision to advance the sustainability of our business operations, our supply chain, and the final composition of our products at the Tate manufacturing site in Hull, UK.

A few years ago, we made the decision to advance the sustainability of our business operations, our supply chain, and the final composition of our products at the Tate manufacturing site in Hull, UK.

So far, we’ve invested more than £1m in key renewable energy and waste-reduction projects and we’re now able to share some of the benefits these are bringing.

We are committed to minimising our impact on the natural environment while constantly striving for sustainability. Find out more about our initiatives to make a positive impact and help us achieve our aim to become a net-zero company.

We are:

  • Operating at 100% renewable electricity - matching 100% of our operational electricity with renewable electricity.
  • Shredding waste steel panels and off-cuts, recycling them back into the manufacturing process.
  • Heated by a biomass system, partly fuelled by shredded wood panels. The energy savings are averaging more than £86,000 per annum.
  • Generating energy for the plant through our solar panels.
  • Using reusable thermal cups and water bottles on-site to reduce plastic waste.
  • Offering customers a “Take Back” scheme further minimizing landfill waste, while supporting an economy that is restorative and regenerative by design.

Same high-quality product

We know that clients don’t want to compromise on performance or high-quality aesthetics in their projects when striving for low-carbon buildings. So, we want our raised-floor systems to look good and last! We’re now able to manufacture new floor panels using a minimum of 60% recycled content without compromising either their strength, longevity, or aesthetics. Our panels are the same high-quality standard and finish as floor panels that have no recycled content.

We also appreciate that (where practical) reuse is another cornerstone of sustainability, so we offer inspections of previously used raised-floor systems to check if/where they might be used again.
